Mom or Dad needs extra help to stay safe at home. How do you know who to trust? Unless you work in the industry, you may not know where to start.

Ask Professionals

One place to start? Consider who the other professionals in the community partner with and trust.

This could include your primary physician, your elder law attorney, your tax accountant, or your financial planner. It could also include others who work specifically in senior care. If they make a recommendation, be sure to ask what they know about the agency. Are they just familiar with the name, or have they received positive feedback from clients who have used them.

If the professionals you know do not have a trusted home care partner, you can also check with your local senior center. Find out who they trust to provide care for any of their home care programs.

For veterans, you can also check to see who your local VA partners with.

Ask Friends

Another place to check? Ask friends who have used home care. They can offer real advice about their experience. Find out if they are satisfied with the home care company they used.
