How Do Veteran Benefits Cover Home Care?

The Wilmington, NC office of Griswold Home Care is honored to care for our veterans as a VA-Approved Home Care Agency. We have served veterans through both the Aid and Attendance benefit and the Community Care program. In our work with veterans and their families, we have found that there is a lot of confusion about the veteran benefits that cover home care and who exactly qualifies. Some of the confusion comes from the fact that there are two different benefits that cover home care, but the way to apply for them and to qualify for them is so different. In this conversation with Carefinderz founder, Pam Palanza, Griswold Home Care owner Dorothy Griffin helps to differentiate these two veteran benefit programs.

Following the interview, we touched base with Pender County Veteran Services Officer, Matt Wesley, about the question that came up about Aid and Attendance benefits being retroactive. He confirmed that if the applicant qualifies for the benefit, the benefit should be retroactive to the date filed.
