Holding Difficult Discussions with Your Parents
Are you trying to figure out how to talk with Mom or Dad about changes you see in their health, their driving ability, their finances, or their care needs? Will you have an opportunity to learn more about their needs or talk with your siblings this holiday season?
Talking with aging parents about their legal and financial issues, driving, and independent living can be challenging for many adult children. That is why we are excited that the December program of ACAP Cape Fear (Adult Children of Aging Parents) will help adult children prepare for and hold these conversations with their aging parents so that they can feel more confident that issues are being comprehensively and effectively addressed.
The program will be held December 12, 2023 from 6:00 to 7:30 pm at First Baptist Church Activities Center,1939 Independence Blvd, Wilmington, NC near Independence Mall. Kara Gansmann, Esq, and Susan L. Fryt, CSA, both of Cranfill Sumner LLP, will be presenting. Attorney Gansmann devotes her entire practice to elder law and estate planning and Susan Fryt helps to educate and connect their clients to the many available resources in our community.
While ACAP programs are geared toward the adult children, they are appropriate for anyone interested in education and resources on aging-related topics, whether for themselves, a loved one, or even as a professional in our community.
