The 21st annual A Day to Remember volleyball fundraiser will be held Saturday, October 12th at Capt’n Bill’s Backyard Grill. All funds raised provide support for local families touched by Alzheimer’s and other forms of dementia.

A Heart to Help

The Musser Family created this annual tournament in 2004 in honor and memory of William Musser. William lost his battle with Alzheimer’s Disease in October of 2003. Following this loss, the Musser family desired to provide support to other local families impacted by Alzheimer’s. A Day to Remember was formed out of this desire. As a result, they have raised more than $100,000 over the past twenty years of A Day to Remember tournaments.

Local Support

The money raised provides Alzheimer’s and dementia support for local families through the New Hanover County Senior Resource Center. This support includes caregiver education and training, support groups, enrichment activities, respite care and adult daycare. The goal of this support is to ease the burden and stress of caring for a loved one with dementia.

A Day to Remember includes a four-person coed volleyball tournament as well as the opportunity to win items through the purchase of raffle tickets. Tournament check-in begins at 10AM on October 12th. For questions about the event, contact Capt’n Bills, located at 4240 Market Street in Wilmington, NC.

Griswold is honored to support this tournament and appreciative of the Mussers who have been so generous to the Wilmington community through A Day to Remember and other annual tournaments supporting local families going through difficult seasons.
