Carrie has managed a couple of different careers in her life, all centered around family and health care delivery. She received her Bachelor of Science degree and long-term care practicum in Nursing Home Administration from the University of Wisconsin and managed nursing homes in Florida for several years in SE Florida. This experience gave Carrie a working knowledge of not only how health care should be delivered every day, but how you hire, train, and nurture the best people to ensure your clients receive care delivered with dignity and excellence.
Motherhood came next for Carrie, and as her husband’s career necessitated several moves. She happily chose the role of a full-time mom for three sons. As the boys attended college she moved back to Florida with her husband and was the Regional Manager for Griswold Home Care in Bonita Springs. In that role, she became grounded in the Griswold philosophy of care and the ‘Golden Rule’ of referring only caregivers you would trust in your own home. Carrie moved to Nashville with her husband and continued with a couple of health care operations roles before moving back to SW Florida earlier this year. Jean’s Story
In 1982, Dr. Jean Griswold founded our company at her dining room table in a small suburb of Philadelphia. She found out that an elderly woman in her community had died of complications because she had no support system for care. Jean felt this was an easily preventable tragedy and was driven to find a solution by pairing Caregivers with those who could not thrive in their homes alone. She was a true visionary, establishing one of the first and most successful non-medical home care organizations in the country, despite being wheelchair-bound due to Multiple Sclerosis. Over 40 years later, her legacy lives on nationwide.
Scholarship
Where would we be without Caregivers? Their selflessness is astounding, yet they are often overlooked and underappreciated. The Jean Griswold Foundation is dedicated to supporting Caregivers, the backbone of the care industry. We provide educational scholarships so Care Professionals can further their training, enhance their skills, elevate their careers, and better assist the people they serve.
