Meet Your Team
Brad Culp
Owner
When Brad was in his early 20’s, he watched his mom wage an extended battle against cancer. After many cycles of remission and resurgence, she was permanently hospitalized at the end of her life. At the time, there was little to no help available for the family to care for her in her home. Brad's dad was in his late 40s and was in no position to quit working to care for his mother full time. Fast forward 20 years, and Brad's wife’s mother was going through the same thing. Though 20 years later, home care in more rural towns continued to be rare.
In 2003, after a 20+ year career in consulting, Brad and Leasa were made aware of an opportunity to acquire the Atlanta Office of Griswold Home Care. This opportunity enabled them to give other families the choice that they were not able to make for their own mothers. It is their privilege to make a positive impact on families every day. They make it possible for daughters to be daughters, and husbands to be husbands – rather than caregivers, chauffeurs or housekeepers. For over 30 years in Atlanta, Brad and Leasa have made it their business to rescue families!
In addition to running Griswold Home Care of Atlanta, Brad serves on the board of Friends of Gwinnett Seniors, The Griswold Home Care Franchisee Association, and as an elder of Perimeter Church. Brad enjoys spending time with family, traveling, working out, snowboarding and scuba diving.
Leasa Culp
Owner
For most of her life, Leasa has cared for people. While staying at home when her three children were young, she provided care on volunteer basis for many families in crisis, particularly focusing on cancer patients. Like many in the Senior Services field, Leasa’s personal experiences have had a significant role in shaping her passion to serve Atlanta’s elderly and disabled population.
Leasa lost her mother to breast and lung cancer. Though home care services were available in 2005, she lived in a small town in Indiana, where there was little in the way of advanced care for cancer patients. Consequently, she, died in the hospital, having spent months there, unable to leave.
As a result of these experiences, Leasa is committed to helping individuals stay safely in their own homes as long as they want to be there, often until their passing. As the owner of a home care agency, she still finds time to care for individuals and families on a volunteer basis, and through the Jean Griswold Foundation.
Sam Grass
Owner
Sam Grass joined Griswold Home Care as a partner in 2006 with 20+ years in the group benefit, managed care and LTC arena. Integrating healthcare solutions for USI Administrators and CBCA, a large group benefit provider, has provided Sam with unique insight into coordination of care as it translates into the home care arena and the value of facilitating a seamless transition from care in a facility to the home.
Sam’s primary responsibilities include market development by striving to provide the right care at the right time with the right team of care partners. Sam views seniors as being our greatest national treasure and seeks to honor seniors by delivering the best care possible to our clients and their families.
Kathleen Nelson
Senior Care Coordinator
I find it hard to believe... But I have been involved with Griswold Home Care in different capacities for 20 years now! My family and I became interested in the business after we had a very challenging experience researching and finding care for a terminally ill family member. We had gained a wealth of knowledge and wanted to be able to help others in the same situation and who were feeling overwhelmed and needed guidance and to be placed in good hands. As a care coordinator I enjoy working with families and caregivers to find creative solutions to challenges they face and working to provide the best possible care for each client’s individual needs. I have also gained the utmost respect for our caregivers and the great work they do every day. In my spare time I enjoy hiking with my dog, playing tennis and listening to music.
Krista Prorok
R.N.
As a young teen, I was there when my great-aunt fell in the yard. I rode in the back of the ambulance with her as she was taken to the hospital and diagnosed with a fractured hip. I spent time visiting her in the hospital and then later in a Long-Term Care- Nursing Facility where she lived the remainder of her life, until about 94 years of age. Life could have been so much better if she could have lived the remainder of her life being cared for in the comfort of her own home. Home care companies were extremely rare back then, especially in more rural areas.
In 1991, I graduated from the University of South Carolina with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Nursing. My first job after becoming a Registered Nurse was on the Orthopedics Unit taking care of patients having bone and joint problems. That was only the beginning of my journey working in health care with older adults. I’ve worked previously with older adults in a variety of settings such as: Adult Day Health Program, Assisted Living Facilities, Hospice Care, and now in Home Care.
With my current role as RN for Griswold Home Care, I supervise the care that is being delivered to our clients. I make routine home visits to monitor our client’s many health conditions and medications. I ensure that the Plan of Care is updated to effectively meet our client’s needs and goals. I strive to promote safety and prevent health problems that could potentially arise with our clients. I provide health education and information on how to access the health care resources they may need.
Outside of work, I spend time helping my own aging parents to access appointments for their health care needs. I enjoy reading non-fiction books while sitting in the great outdoors. I enjoy spending time with my husband going on nature hikes, attending church, preparing delicious healthy recipes, as well as visiting our extended family across the US and abroad.
In Your Community
We’re in This Together
Our team is dedicated to improving the well-being of our community through serving those who need assistance to live where they love. We are active in the neighborhood, so you’ll see us around town at events, participating in associations and meetings, and supporting local organizations inside and outside the care industry. We firmly believe in our ability to create a happier and healthier place to live through the connections we make with the people in our community.
Jean’s Story
In 1982, Dr. Jean Griswold founded our company at her dining room table in a small suburb of Philadelphia. She found out that an elderly woman in her community had died of complications because she had no support system for care. Jean felt this was an easily preventable tragedy and was driven to find a solution by pairing Caregivers with those who could not thrive in their homes alone. She was a true visionary, establishing one of the first and most successful non-medical home care organizations in the country, despite being wheelchair-bound due to Multiple Sclerosis. Over 40 years later, her legacy lives on nationwide.
Scholarship
Where would we be without Caregivers? Their selflessness is astounding, yet they are often overlooked and underappreciated. The Jean Griswold Foundation is dedicated to supporting Caregivers, the backbone of the care industry. We provide educational scholarships so Care Professionals can further their training, enhance their skills, elevate their careers, and better assist the people they serve.
