Meet Your Team
Frank & Mary Pettinaro
Director
About Our Griswoldness:
My name is Frank Pettinaro, and my wife, Mary, and I have been the proud owners of Griswold Home Care of Rochester since 2015. Everyone we meet asks us where the name "Griswold" originated or came from. Griswold Home Care is a national franchise that provides non-medical, in-home care for the elderly and those with special needs. It was founded in 1982 by the late Jean Griswold, a visionary entrepreneur who started the first non-medical home care franchise in the United States while running her own home care business. While we operate in a growing industry with many respected competitors, we are unique. We like to call the characteristics that make us unique our "Griswoldness." Jean Griswold was an inspirational leader, diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 1967 at the age of 36, but continued to work from a wheelchair until the age of 79. Her compassion, spirit, and values live on in Griswold franchises across the nation.
About Us:
We are lifelong Rochesterians with deeply rooted family ties here. All of our educational, cultural, and professional development has been nurtured and shaped by our families and the wonderful community we are part of. Our motivation in owning this business is due to the inspiration of our mothers, ages 85 and 97, whose desire was to age in place with comfort and care in their own homes. We have been blessed throughout our careers to have attained and experienced a variety of roles, including executive and leadership roles in the healthcare industry, which have inspired us to understand and appreciate each of our client’s needs. Along with managing our business, we have both always been heavily involved in community events and volunteer efforts throughout the years. Mary is a co-founder of the Pancreatic Cancer Association of Western New York, which has donated close to $1M to the Wilmot Cancer Center at the University of Rochester Medical Center to help fund research and spread awareness of pancreatic cancer.
It is our honor to refer Caregivers to provide you with premier and trustworthy non-medical, in-home care service. We take pride in referring properly vetted, highly qualified, and compassionate Caregivers to our clients through the CareAssure Screening System. Your peace of mind is our main concern, and our philosophy is simple and sincere – we would never send anyone to your home to care for you or your loved one that we would not choose for our own senior family members. Because of our personal experiences and love for our elderly family members, we understand your concerns, as we have personally experienced the daily struggles to keep them safe and happy in their homes as they age in place. The number one question we always ask is, “Would we choose this caregiver to care for our own elderly loved ones?”
We would like to thank you in advance for visiting our website and for considering us for your in-home care needs for yourself or your loved one. It is our mission and desire to provide the utmost quality of care and to build lasting relationships with you and your family as members of our community.
Anna Maria Mattioli
Office Manager & Care Coordinator
Anna Maria has been with Griswold Home Care of Rochester since early 2020. She was a former Caregiver for several years, and when the position opened up, she quickly jumped at the opportunity to become the new Office Manager/Care Coordinator. After caring for her own mom, dad, and sister, she realizes the importance of what a Caregiver does and how critical it is to have someone in your home who you can completely trust and feel comfortable with. Our clients love her in her new role, as well as in her prior Caregiving role, due to her compassionate spirit, her understanding of them and their needs, and her trustworthiness.
Anna Maria grew up in Rochester, NY, where she has lived most of her life. Family and traditions are the most important things to her. She has 4 brothers, 2 sisters, and a son who is near and dear to her heart. She also has a large extended family in Italy who she visits frequently.

In Your Community
We’re in This Together
Our team is dedicated to improving the well-being of our community through serving those who need assistance to live where they love. We are active in the neighborhood, so you’ll see us around town at events, participating in associations and meetings, and supporting local organizations inside and outside the care industry. We firmly believe in our ability to create a happier and healthier place to live through the connections we make with the people in our community.
Jean’s Story
In 1982, Dr. Jean Griswold founded our company at her dining room table in a small suburb of Philadelphia. She found out that an elderly woman in her community had died of complications because she had no support system for care. Jean felt this was an easily preventable tragedy and was driven to find a solution by pairing Caregivers with those who could not thrive in their homes alone. She was a true visionary, establishing one of the first and most successful non-medical home care organizations in the country, despite being wheelchair-bound due to Multiple Sclerosis. Over 40 years later, her legacy lives on nationwide.
Scholarship
Where would we be without Caregivers? Their selflessness is astounding, yet they are often overlooked and underappreciated. The Jean Griswold Foundation is dedicated to supporting Caregivers, the backbone of the care industry. We provide educational scholarships so Care Professionals can further their training, enhance their skills, elevate their careers, and better assist the people they serve.
