Joe & Jane Mandala
Director
My name is Joe Mandala and my wife, Jane, and I are the Directors of the Griswold Home Care of Middlesex/Mercer County here in New Jersey. Located in North Brunswick, New Jersey, we are in close proximity to Rutgers University and Princeton University. Our office opened in 1996 and we are proud to continue on a strong tradition of providing the best home care to seniors and elderly in the area.
I grew up on Long Island and I was the first grandson in my family. My grandparents lived next door to my family with my great-grandparents. When family members became sick over the years, I remember them moving in with my family so that we could take care of them. I was lucky to have so many generations of family members around me growing up. Nowadays, people are more transient and families are often spread across the country, making it hard to care for family members when they age.
My wife, Jane, is a breast cancer survivor who knows first hand the importance of compassionate and patient care. Her passion is present in our approach to home care as we only refer the very best caregivers to our clients.
My passion for home care and providing the best senior care to my clients comes from my own family’s experiences. Almost 75% of my clients have children or family members who live out of state. I am honored to be able to care for my clients when their own children or family members cannot. My wife and I tremendously enjoy being able to make a difference in people’s lives through home care.
The caregivers we refer to our home care clients are thoroughly screened through a 17-step process. Along with this process, my wife and I personally ensure that the caregivers we hire are the very best in the field.
In Your Community
We’re in This Together
Our team is dedicated to improving the well-being of our community through serving those who need assistance to live where they love. We are active in the neighborhood, so you’ll see us around town at events, participating in associations and meetings, and supporting local organizations inside and outside the care industry. We firmly believe in our ability to create a happier and healthier place to live through the connections we make with the people in our community.
Jean’s Story
In 1982, Dr. Jean Griswold founded our company at her dining room table in a small suburb of Philadelphia. She found out that an elderly woman in her community had died of complications because she had no support system for care. Jean felt this was an easily preventable tragedy and was driven to find a solution by pairing Caregivers with those who could not thrive in their homes alone. She was a true visionary, establishing one of the first and most successful non-medical home care organizations in the country, despite being wheelchair-bound due to Multiple Sclerosis. Over 40 years later, her legacy lives on nationwide.
Scholarship
Where would we be without Caregivers? Their selflessness is astounding, yet they are often overlooked and underappreciated. The Jean Griswold Foundation is dedicated to supporting Caregivers, the backbone of the care industry. We provide educational scholarships so Care Professionals can further their training, enhance their skills, elevate their careers, and better assist the people they serve.
