Meet Your Team
Michael Assimon
Owner/Director
Hello, I am Michael Assimon, owner and Director of Griswold Home Care of Central New York. Tina, my wife of 29 years, and I have raised our four children in Fayetteville, New York. We are both natives of the Syracuse area and truly enjoy being able to build our own local business while giving back to the community. I am a graduate of Fayetteville-Manlius High School, LeMoyne College, and have been a local business owner for nearly 30 years. Since 2012, we have been proud to refer professional caregivers who offer quality home care to our neighbors in need.
On a personal level, during the last two years of my father’s life my entire family witnessed the difficulties of obtaining great in-home care for my father, who was a stroke victim. We also realized that once a superior caregiver is found, what a positive and comforting experience it can be. This drove my passion to provide positive experiences to local families. Our son was born with Down Syndrome and is fortunate to have a great family support network. Many others with special needs and concerns are not as fortunate as Luke. Therefore, it is important for Tina and me to give back to the community in the best way we can.
Erica Assimon
Marketing and Care Coordinator
Hello, I am Erica Assimon, Marketing and Care Coordinator at your local Griswold Home Care office of Central New York. Like my father, I was born and raised in the Syracuse area and am proud to be able to give back to my community. Also like my father, I am a graduate from Fayetteville-Manlius High School and received a Bachelor’s degree from LeMoyne College. I graduated with a Dual Major in Marketing and Analytics and a Minor in Human Resource Management.
For the past four years, I have been committed to my father’s mission in providing the best home care for those in need. Growing up with a brother with Down Syndrome, I quickly learned to appreciate the value in providing the best care possible for loved ones. Luke has taught me the importance of being compassionate, understanding, and accepting of everyone and I am grateful to have the opportunity to translate these values into my professional life.
In Your Community
We’re in This Together
Our team is dedicated to improving the well-being of our community through serving those who need assistance to live where they love. We are active in the neighborhood, so you’ll see us around town at events, participating in associations and meetings, and supporting local organizations inside and outside the care industry. We firmly believe in our ability to create a happier and healthier place to live through the connections we make with the people in our community.
Jean’s Story
In 1982, Dr. Jean Griswold founded our company at her dining room table in a small suburb of Philadelphia. She found out that an elderly woman in her community had died of complications because she had no support system for care. Jean felt this was an easily preventable tragedy and was driven to find a solution by pairing Caregivers with those who could not thrive in their homes alone. She was a true visionary, establishing one of the first and most successful non-medical home care organizations in the country, despite being wheelchair-bound due to Multiple Sclerosis. Over 40 years later, her legacy lives on nationwide.
Scholarship
Where would we be without Caregivers? Their selflessness is astounding, yet they are often overlooked and underappreciated. The Jean Griswold Foundation is dedicated to supporting Caregivers, the backbone of the care industry. We provide educational scholarships so Care Professionals can further their training, enhance their skills, elevate their careers, and better assist the people they serve.
