Conferences for Caregivers
Category:
Dear Allegra,
I’ve been a professional caregiver for 3 years now. I love my job and making a difference in the lives of seniors and their families.
I know how important it is for me to keep improving my knowledge and skills. My employer offers ongoing training programs, but I’d like to do more. I’m especially interested in opportunities to help advance my profession in caregiving.
Do you know of any caregiver conferences I can take part in? Online caregiver conferences and trainings are of special interest. I have 3 small children so not having to travel far would be great!
Thank you for your help!
Stephanie
Exploring Caregiver Conferences for Professionals and Families
Dear Stephanie,
Good for you! Going above and beyond to improve your caregiving skills is the sign of a true professional. There are many opportunities for you to consider whether in person or via webinar. Some are exclusively for professionals and advocates, and others have a track for family caregivers too.
Here are a few you might want to consider:
- National Caregiving Conference: This conference is attended by family caregivers and those who work with seniors and their families. It also has a large vendor area with products and services that help make caregiving easier.
- National Conference of Caregiver Advocates: Sponsored by the National Alliance for Caregiving, this annual conference tackles topics such as caregiving, the caregiving workplace, and creating caregiving communities. Since it sounds like you are interested in advancing within the profession of caregiving, this might be a good fit for you.
- Fearless Caregiver Conferences: This conference takes place in a variety of cities and towns across the country. While it is promoted as an opportunity for family caregivers to learn how to overcome caregiving challenges, it might give you a chance to see what families are struggling with. That can help you educate your clients and their loved ones.
- Helping You Care: This resource-rich site has articles, tools, and checklists to help caregivers learn more about diseases and specific health conditions.
Finally, I would encourage you to bookmark our site and stop back often. We routinely share news and updates related to professional caregiving.
I hope this list helps you continue to learn more about caregiving and what seniors and their families need.
Best regards,
Allegra
