5 tips to keep your heart healthy infographic.

Tip 1: Eat Better, Increase vegetables, fruits, unrefined whole grains, and fish—decrease: Nutrient-poor foods high in fat, cholesterol, and salt.

Tip 2: Exercise More. Take a 30-minute walk per day, walk pets, garden, do yard work, and clean the house.

Tip 3: Don’t Smoke. Smoking increases your risk of stroke and heart disease by up to 400 percent. Quitting by a certain age can give you years back on your life. By age 34, +10 years. By age 44, +9 years. By age 54, +6 years. By age 64, +4 years.

Tip 4: Keep a healthy weight. Keeping your waist size at or below a certain size can prevent an increased risk of heart disease.

Tip 5: Get Health Screenings. Get regular heart health screening tests beginning at age 20. Get regular blood glucose tests beginning at age 45.
