Meet Your Team
Rae Booth
Director
When Rae Booth was a young girl she would stand in her backyard and call over to the neighbor’s kitchen window, “What did you bake today, Grandma Malloy?” Grandma Malloy would respond with a cheerful voice, “I have fresh homemade donuts for us to snack on. Go ask your mom if you can come over for a visit.” Without haste, Rae ran to find her mom to ask permission to visit with the elderly neighbor next door.
Rae knew early on that older people’s lives would play a big part in hers; she just didn’t know how that would all be combined into a vocation. In 2006, Rae began working on the referral team for Griswold Home Care in New Castle, Delaware. On that first day, she expressed to Mary Ann Murray, the Director of the Griswold Home Care New Castle office, that she wanted to learn everything about the home-care referral business.
Rae discovered that day that a part of her had been missing for years as she worked in corporate America in the human resources field. She saw how 20+ years working for a chemical manufacturing company, financial services company, and pharmaceutical company had prepared her for this next venture in her life. Rae was going to own and operate her own Griswold Home Care Referral Service. She was going to start this business nestled in the Asheville, Hendersonville areas of North Carolina.
During the five years serving the aging community of Delaware, Rae worked on several community projects. One such project was developing a “Senior Shelter System” for folks who needed to be removed from a violent situation into a safe home for a brief period of time. Rae worked with the State’s Attorney General’s Office, Adult Protective Services and several of the leaders in the New Castle Community to design, develop and implement a fail-safe way to deal with a growing need in the community. Rae worked on a campaign that taught people the signs of abuse and what to watch for and educated the public on actions they could take if they encountered or came across such a situation. The campaign lasted 2 years, and a shelter solution was put in place. It was a big success as the media assisted in the cause and the visibility of a terrible problem was brought out in the light.
Rae was awarded the Griswold Home Care Presidential Award in 2010. This award was presented for the high standards by which the Delaware office operated, and she operates the Griswold Home Care Referral Service of Asheville office at that same high standard. She is also a Certified Senior Advisor. Rae’s life is filled with compassion and joy as she looks forward to the future and referring caregivers to help folks to age with dignity in their own homes or wherever home might be.

In Your Community
We’re in This Together
Our team is dedicated to improving the well-being of our community through serving those who need assistance to live where they love. We are active in the neighborhood, so you’ll see us around town at events, participating in associations and meetings, and supporting local organizations inside and outside the care industry. We firmly believe in our ability to create a happier and healthier place to live through the connections we make with the people in our community.
Jean’s Story
In 1982, Dr. Jean Griswold founded our company at her dining room table in a small suburb of Philadelphia. She found out that an elderly woman in her community had died of complications because she had no support system for care. Jean felt this was an easily preventable tragedy and was driven to find a solution by pairing Caregivers with those who could not thrive in their homes alone. She was a true visionary, establishing one of the first and most successful non-medical home care organizations in the country, despite being wheelchair-bound due to Multiple Sclerosis. Over 40 years later, her legacy lives on nationwide.
Scholarship
Where would we be without Caregivers? Their selflessness is astounding, yet they are often overlooked and underappreciated. The Jean Griswold Foundation is dedicated to supporting Caregivers, the backbone of the care industry. We provide educational scholarships so Care Professionals can further their training, enhance their skills, elevate their careers, and better assist the people they serve.
